Hannah Shaw is a kitten rescuer, humane educator, and New York Times bestselling author who has dedicated her life to finding innovative ways to protect animals. Her project, Kitten Lady, strives to create global change in the way we perceive and treat the tiniest and most vulnerable felines.

Andrew Marttila is professional animal photographer best known for his captivating images of felines. He reaches hundreds of thousands of cat lovers through social media where he documents his travels promoting shelters across the country, taking photos for clients, and snuggling his cat, Haroun. Andrew's photography has been featured in Catster, Vanity Fair, Real Simple, and The Guardian, and on CNN and MSNBC, among others. Andrew is the photographer behind Shop Cats of New York and Cats on Catnip. He lives in San Diego, CA.

Adam Myatt is not your normal crazy cat lady. What started as a simple photography hobby featuring his community's feral 'Hoodcats,' quickly turned into a life changing journey which lead to helping co-found the first permanent cat cafe in the USA. Before opening the Cat Town Cafe and Adoption Center, Myatt took an inspirational trip to Japan to see cat cafes in action, and visit two of the feral cat islands. A Licensed Veterinary Technician since 1996 and working exclusively with the feline patient since 2002, Ellen(The CAT LVT)has seen how cats were poorly cats are treated and how they should be treated in veterinary medicine. She currently resides at NOVA CAT CLINIC in Arlington, VA  and runs the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Foundation, a 501c3 dedicated to the critical feline neonate and pediatric cases. Lecturing on the veterinary circuit, she believes the veterinary hospital should be transparent and honest with the care given to the feline patient no matter the age. She has been featured in “AAHA Trends Magazine” and “Today’s Veterinary Nurse” as well the social media news  “LOVE MEOW “and “The DODO “with her work on saving critical kittens instead of euthanasia. Megan Kott has been working as a professional illustrator since 2006.  In addition to creating beautiful watercolor pet portraits and traveling the craft fair circuit - Megan designs graphics, illustrations, and textiles for a variety of clients including Chronicle Books, Maximum Fun, Meowbox, and Tea Collection. When she isn't painting cats, she enjoys looking at animals in predicaments, drinking coffee, and sitting on her porch when the weather is pleasant. In addition to being an artist, she is a lifelong cat lover - her first word was "kitty." Her current work is created in Milwaukee, WI alongside her husband and 3 mischievous cats.

Will Zweigart is the founder of Flatbush Cats, an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) TNR group working to reduce the feral and homeless cat population in Brooklyn and beyond. He's focused on inspiring and empowering more people to support local rescue efforts through TNR, fostering, and colony management.

Louis Lotito is a founding member of the non-profit organization TNR Utopia which focuses on the Trap-Neuter-Return [TNR] of community cats in North Queens, NYC. Michelle Haverkamp is the founder and President of the small, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization TNR Utopia Inc which focuses on the trap, neuter and return of community cats in North Queens, NYC. Like many, Michelle wondered how she could help the feral cats that called her Flushing backyard home. Following some web searching Michelle got TNR Certified in the Spring of 2016. After completing a TNR project for her small backyard colony, Michelle and her husband Louis began doing TNR for others who care about community cats in their neighborhood. Latonya "Sassee" Walker is from the Brownsville area in Brooklyn, NY. She currently resides in one of the NYCHA's buildings in Canarsie. She has loved animals all of her life, especially cats- she's always had them growing up and they lived until 17/18 years of age. She is now a regular trapper and she practices TNR in the rougher neighborhoods in Brooklyn. After seeing the cats outside, she decided to "walk the talk." She is proud to say that she changes a life almost every day and she does TNR for a lot of elderly feeders, people with no money, homeless shelters, nursing homes, etc. Not a week goes by where she does not trap. She is one of the featured stories on The Cat Rescuers - a Documentary Film.

A true born and raised New Yorker, Lee Domaszowec founded PhoenixFireSC after working in the animal welfare, non profit, and operations world for many years. The goal of PhoenixFire is to help passionate people change the world, faster.

Lee brings a unique perspective to animal welfare, having extensive experience in both the for profit and non profit worlds. He has traveled extensively across the country visiting dozens of shelters, participated in many large scale adoption events, and worked with countless rescues. As a development professional, Lee is an expert in acquiring and managing the funding necessary for our lifesaving work. He is personally passionate about animal welfare and still fosters and volunteers with a number of organizations.

Kira Serisky is a 16 year old on a mission to save kittens and educate while doing so. Her motto "If I Can Do It You Can Too" speaks to her belief that no matter how small the act, everyone is capable of pitching in to help cats and kittens in some capacity. Dealing with many health challenges, Kira stays grounded by the rescue work she does. She loves to take on the tough cases, and recounts fostering as the most rewarding and fulfilling thing she can do. Documenting everything on her Instagram account @krazykittens802, Kira hopes to shed light on kitten rescue and inspire others to get involved. 

Dr. Jennifer Slovak is a Staff Doctor at AMC’s Internal Medicine Service. She completed a rotating internship, a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine, and a Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Science at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in July of 2014.

Prior to her appointment at AMC, Dr. Slovak served as an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine (2014-2019). Her time was divided between clinical medicine, classroom teaching, and research. Dr. Slovak has authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, has lectured nationally and internationally, and has been awarded various grants for her research work. She has been the recipient of the Jerry Newbrey Award for excellence in didactic classroom teaching and the Richard Wescott Teaching Award for clinical instruction. In 2018, Dr. Slovak was the recipient of the Washington State University Zoetis teaching award voted on by 4th year veterinary students for teaching excellence, dedication, and leadership, which contributed significantly to the advancement of the profession.

Dr. Slovak has a special interest in feline medicine, including low stress handling, pain management, and inflammatory/immune-mediated gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic diseases.

Dr. Slovak and her husband are the proud pet parents of 3 Boston Terriers (Ralph, Amos, and Tater Tot), a beautiful geriatric cat named Seymour, and a dearly loved horse named Lola.

Dr. Elena Contreras, DVM, MS, PhD is a veterinarian with a specialized focus in feline medicine and surgery, animal welfare, and shelter medicine. She is thrilled to be moving back to the NY area where she was born… As of May 2020, she will be an Assistant Professor of Animal Welfare and Behavior at the new Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Contreras received her DVM degree in 2013 from Ross University, which she attended with a Full Tuition Scholarship. Dr. Contreras then moved to Colorado and completed a Small Animal Shelter Medicine and Surgery Internship and a Shelter Research Fellowship at Colorado State University (CSU). Dr. Contreras then received her PhD in Veterinary Clinical Sciences from CSU in 2019. Her doctoral dissertation focused on novel strategies for the prevention and treatment of feline herpesvirus-1 and feline upper respiratory tract infections in cats in shelters. She also earned Maddie’s Graduate Certificate in Shelter Medicine from the University of Florida’s online certification program in 2013. Dr. Contreras is the 2017 recipient of the Winn Feline Foundation/Miller Trust New Feline Investigator Award that supported her grant to assess novel non-invasive methods of measuring chronic stress in cats. While Dr. Contreras resided in Colorado, she was also the Medical Director and Veterinarian at a Denver feline non-profit organization that focused on TNR and the care and sterilization of community cats. 

Prior to vet school, Dr. Contreras worked in the psychology, art, and ecology fields and in various capacities in the animal welfare and shelter fields including as an animal care manager at a Montana ranch for handicapped dogs, cats, and horses, and as an adoption specialist at a local Montana humane society.

Dr. Contreras currently shares her home with 5 adopted former-shelter cats, 2 former-community-cats, 3 adopted large-breed dogs, and 1 human companion. One of her favorite non-veterinary activities is photographing her cats. Two of her cats have their own newly-formed IG accounts, #maxximostthecat and #winstogram_thecat.
